My typical Process:
I like to do a very rough, loose sketch before any commitment is made, so that if my vision of what you described is far off, or needs tweaking, we can get it to your liking. Keep in mind, this is very rough, and will not reflect any details, only the general form and direction of the artwork. If you change your mind at this stage, you can opt out of the commission, no questions asked. Once the rough idea is approved, I ask for 50% of the commission price up front (rounded up).
I like to send “progress reports” along the way with screenshots of the work-in-progress so we can work together to keep your vision on track.
Once I've completed the artwork I will send a small sample image for your approval. Once approved, I ask for the remainder of the commission to be paid, after which I will send the final images, which will include one full resolution (300 dpi) TIFF or PNG file (whichever is preferred ), and one smaller web-friendly JPEG.
Base Price Information and Examples
Black and White Shaded: Up-close and personal or a showcase of your character's whole look, either way black and white is a classic and can add a great mood to your image. $45 for a single character head or bust. $60 for a full body image. Tint it a bit or keep it grey. Add a color accent if you want. I'm happy to do it, no extra charge.
Full color: Breathe life into your character with full color! $65 for a single head or bust. $80 for a full body image.
Regarding Backgrounds
Detailed backgrounds or scenes will have an added cost, and quotes are available upon request. Basic color/greyscale backgrounds (like the ones in the examples above) come standard to suit the artwork. If you need me to leave it white, pr transparent, just let me know.
Regarding additional characters
The position and complexity of additional characters within the same image will require an individual quote, as the price really does depend on what is needed for the piece. Quotes are available upon request.
I reserve the right to refuse any commission request for any reason. This has
yet to happen, but it needs to be said just the same.
